Correct.

I'm fairly sure that he was only referring to the ORIGINALLY BUDGETED amounts for the Reagan/Bush era Savings and Loan federal bailout.

(Once all the interest costs on that borrowed money get added in --- over the many years it takes the federal government to pay down that original slug of extra borrowing --- I'm sure the final price tab to the American taxpayer was much higher.)

Just as it ALSO will be very much higher than the '$700 Billion to 1.2 Trillion dollar amounts that have been bandied about publicly by administration officials.

Much, much higher.
