the official reason is that there is a run on WM deposit. About 165B already left WM since LEH bk.. The 31B windfall that you mentioned may or may not come true.. The asset they inherited from WM is 296B and your guess is as good as mind as to how much of this 296B will ultimately default and has to write down.
