Besides John McCain, no other member of congress had attempted to stop the corruption conducted by Fannie Mae's CEO, Democrat Franklin Raines. In fact, the Democrats protected their fellow party members who were running Fannie and Freddie into bankruptcy. You see, the crucial point made in the Palin-Couric interview is that John McCain put country first when he tried to sound the Fannie Mae alarm, and congressional Democrats blocked his proposed reforms.
