I sat down in front of the TV with my popcorn. I was ready to buy. I was ready for one of these guys to close the deal. I am a Republican and have voted that way for as long as I can remember. I was probably leaning towards McCain but I WAS OPEN. I'm going to get their views on probably the greatest financial emergency in my lifetime. When the first question came out about the bailout plan, yes or no, I was dismayed that Obama had first crack. After two minutes of everything but the bailout plan it was McCain's turn. I thought that this was perfect. He could say that he didn't have time to really prepare for this debate since he had been in Washington, so "I'm just gonna' shoot from the hip, so I'm going to give you my gut feelings about what I've heard in the last 48 hours." Instead I got Ted Kennedy, Eisenhower, et.al. My eyes started to glaze over. The popcorn suddenly started to taste a little old. The mediator, obviously agitated, came back with the same question again since neither had answered it the first time. The American people were hungry to hear a reasoned approach to this crisis. Any one of ten people on the 2 boards I frequent could have given the public exactly what they needed to hear. "I will not vote for The Plan in it's present form. This is how it needs to be changed. When it contains provisions such as these, I will vote for it because it will then provide what this economy needs to start turning around. Thank you very much. Next question."

I got nuthin'. My eyes finished glazing over. I fed the rest of the popcorn to the dog, took a shower and made my picks for the football pool. Obama has a strict party agenda that is not capable of dealing with an event such as this and McCain came across as a stuttering boob. Can't someone, anyone, put their agendas/special interests aside and provide some intelligent answers?
