Applix and Interchange Announce Technology Partnership to Deliver World-Class
Customer Service Solutions

BusinessWire, Monday, October 20, 1997 at 09:15

WESTBORO, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 20, 1997--

100% Pure Java software fills key component in the Interchange
Group's rich portfolio of best-in-breed service solutions

Applix Inc. (NASDAQ:APLX), the leading supplier of business
software solutions for the thin-client computing platform, and
Interchange Group, a leading customer service management systems
supplier, today have announced a strategic partnership agreement.
Interchange Group will include the Applix Enterprise customer
satisfaction software in their portfolio of complementary
"best-in-breed" service solutions. According to the terms of the
agreement, Interchange Group will include the Applix CIS (Customer
Interaction Software) as part of an end-to-end customer solution that
includes marketing, sales, fulfillment, service and development
process and information management.
Interchange Group selected Applix Enterprise because of the
strong sales and marketing software and integrated service and help
desk modules that comprise a complete business solution. Equally
important to the agreement was that Applix followed through on their
stated technology plan for Applix Enterprise to support Sun
Microsystem's 100% Pure Java standard and the thin-client
architecture.
According to David Wade, marketing manager for the Interchange
Group, "Our business is evolving, with the market, from roots in
traditional field service management to deliver complete customer
service solutions that satisfy the needs of both pre- and post-sales
customer support functions. Applix fully meets our own product
strategy to deliver solutions across a range of client environments
including the increasingly important Java workstation. These two
trends make Applix Enterprise an ideal fit for our product
portfolio."
"We are delighted to partner with one of the leading suppliers in
the customer service management market," said Tony Martinez, product
marketing director for Applix Enterprise. "Interchange's strength in
providing comprehensive solutions combined with a business
consultancy approach ensures enhanced, improved processes for sales
and service operations. We believe Interchange's value-added
services and complementary software products, combined with Applix
Enterprise and its thin-client technology will result in a powerful
CIS product for the market."
