Let me get this straight: you think Sarah Palin drew 60,000 cheering fans to an ordinary Florida campaign rally the other day because she's a disaster? Sheesh, what do you think a successful candidate would look like?

Understand this: the screeching about Sarah Palin, the notebook dump reporting, the 'gotcha' interviews, the openly sexist bigotry about small towns, holy rollers, hunting and beauty contests are not because Sarah Palin is a failure as a candidate. Just the opposite: she has drawn such a vehement reaction from the left because she is so powerful a threat. She has electrified the Republican base and is attractive to many disgruntled Hillary supporters.
