So far, a couple of 'uh-oh' kind of posts, and one asking suspiciously how this info has suddenly surfaced, since no one else has mentioned it.

AOL is a subscription service and can't be accessed via a browser. You have to load AOL's software. The cheapest price is $9.95/month. That's if you use your internet ISP for connecting instead of dialing in to them directly. I only use it for the Motley Fool boards and a few handy things like First Call. The boards vary in quality, but there is some useful information to be gleaned in almost all of them.

By the way, the advent of AOL did more to destroy the utility of the USENET news groups than any other factor except perhaps advertising. Between ads and the clueless and netiquette-impaired people that AOL poured into them, many of them are virtually useless now.
