Investor -ex!!- I see we're back in Bazzarro world. I agree with just about everything you wrote in your last post. The only problem is I draw another conclusion than the one you described. First, I have no doubt that eventually Aol will be transformed from a fee for service set-up into a model that derives all of their revenues from advertising and transaction sharing and whats more I'm sure Aol knows it and is gearing its business that way now just as you described. While there will be plenty of ways to use the internet free I maintain that there will be a big business out there for a co. that organizes the content well as well as provides content of its own. I like aol. I believe there are alot of other people out there who really like it as well. I have no desire to change. My experience with aol has been pretty good except last Dec. when they went to unlimited pricing but access has not been a problem anymore ifyou invest time to keep an eye out for new numbers{ which are being added at a very nice pace]. I am concerned a little now with the current valuation after this runup so as I posted before I sold covered calls against my position and if what you predict is true I will continue to sell them all the way back to 44.Curiously, with all the strong bear talk on this thread nobody sticks their neck out a little and ever says what they bought or sold. Except Brent once- Boy did that sting but you took it well. I also think you overplay the #of subs issue and the accounting issue. I'm confident that their reported # of subs is correct. Whether they can continue to grow them or not we will see. As for the accounting, I read the restatements and the explanations were perfectly reasonable. We can debate that at a different time but the idea that the books are being manipulated takes away from the many other fine points you made. It is what it is now, the question is will it continue to grow? You think no way, I think possibly yes.
Regards, MW
