For those interested in the competition to iMoD displays, this presentation gives a pretty good overview of the current pros and cons of OLED's.

Of particular interest is the graph on page 9 which shows the contrast ratio in different lighting conditions. As the graph shows, an OLED without a polarizer has a sharp drop in quality as ambient lighting increases (the Sony XEL-1). However, a polarizer dramatically increases the image quality (the CMEL displays) in sunlight. For comparison, Qualcomm has stated that iMoD displays have a constant contrast ratio of 10.
