It will be interesting to see how much Sarah has been able to retain from her recent crash course in international relations in the debate. Who knows, she may well exceed expectations.

Personally, I have long felt that more Americans need to travel abroad to understand the world, our role in it and our impact on other countries (the good and bad). I regret that there wasn't more support for the Bill Gates and a Foundation (whose name I forget) to send every high schooler who wanted to, abroad for some work/study.

I'm skeptical whether anyone who attains age 40-something and has never gotten a passport, really has much interest in the world, let alone understanding of it.
