Vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin has suggested that men and dinosaurs coexisted on an Earth created 6,000 years ago, a report say.
Scientists believe that most dinosaurs became extinct about 65 million years ago.
A local music teacher at Wasilla told the Los Angeles Times that soon after Sarah Palin was elected the mayor of the Alaskan town, she told him that, "Dinosaurs and humans walked the Earth at the same time."
A startled Philip Munger, who teaches music at the University of Alaska in Anchorage, then confronted the newly elected mayor about prehistoric fossils and tracks dating back millions of years.
Palin responded by saying that "she had seen pictures of human footprints inside the tracks," Munger recalled.
According to the report, Palin's view shares the idea of "young Earth creationism" - which holds God created the Earth about 6,000 years ago, and dinosaurs and humans coexisted early on.
While only 35 days are left until the general election, Sarah Palin - who was tapped as Republican presidential nominee John McCain's running mate on Aug 29 - remains relatively unknown on the national stage.
John McCain, who celebrated his 72nd birthday on Aug 29, has made it clear that should he win the White House bid in 2008, he would not seek a second term.

In her interview, Gov. Palin failed to convince viewers of her understanding of the country's ailing economy. She also managed to raise eyebrows after failing to prove her foreign policy credentials.
