After the vote, there was a congressman with a TX tie on.....presumably a TX congressman. He had a smirk on his face when he asked the Speaker a rule of order. His question was could only a member of the prevailing vote bring up a motion to reconsider the vote; that he was considering changing his vote. It took her a few minutes.......she had to check with someone else. Finally, she said.....yes, it has to be someone from the prevailing vote. He looked up at her..still with the smirk on his face....and said......I've changed my mind....I do not want to reconsider. I realized then he was just fukking around.....that these people live in this insular world, playing their little games, using names like Madame Speaker not too dissimiliar from the formal names used in royal courts from days of old. They have very little connection with the rest of the world except at election time. I am sure they see this crisis as something not really all that serious.....after all, the US has been thru crisis before and survived.

It wasn't pretty to watch and I don't know if we will get through this one.
