I sure was, longnshort, as I was with the firing of the travel office and many other transgressions by WJC and HRC during their 8 years in power.

It seems like we elect leaders and parties to office, then they disappoint with the use of the power they inherit. I was once overjoyed with the Republican Revolution, Newt & all, put in place to end the rife cronyism and bloated policies of the entitled permanent Democratic majority.

But what did they do with that opportunity? We don't have the bandwidth to enumerate the ways they squandered it, and put a lie to the principles on which they were elected. It took a decade, but in the end they were proven to be no better than the folks they were elected to replace.

You know, the main reason I come to this thread on SI is to test ideas, and have a bit of fun too. I am a moderate, vote both Republican and Democratic, and am proud of Maine's tradition of sending moderates to lead our country - that's kind of how I approach this thread. I come to this thread because I'm fascinated by the mindset of rabid partisans, and curious to learn why they think as they do.

I don't waste time thinking there will be any meaningful exchange of ideas with you folks; call it a psych experiment. But your reactions are always fascinating.
