the loonie cannot run away from the greenback

Cannot??????????????????? Whoa!

The loonie was 65 cents US and rose to $ 1.10 US and has recently settled at 95 cents.
Obviously the loonie and greenback can run all over the place with wild abandon.

I maintain that the planets are in conjunction and that this can happen now. But will it? Jeez....who knows anymore.
