Here are some links which show the research that Fiberstars has done to improve the brightness of their product: ewweb.com light-link.com In the first article, it is said that the Fiberstars products are close to conventional lighting (incandescent) in brightness for downlighting (remote source) applications. I'm wondering how their neon alternative lighting compares to the competition and whether it is as bright as neon. There is a huge market for fiber optic lighting if it can replace neon at equal brightness and comparable cost.
