Could be. If so, the Republicans jumped at the bait. Not only did McCain grandstand the whole thing, including taking credit for it right before it went down in flames, the House Republicans got very connected with its defeat. Especially when they tried to pin the blame for the failure on Pelosi. They passed up an excellent opportunity to make the case for their opposition, but chose to whine instead.


I agree 100%. The GOPers acted like babies in this mess. My intent was not to defend the Republicans at the expense of Pelosi. My point is that if we want our legislative branch to function better and to be available during a crisis, then the partisanship has to be toned down......and that attitude should flow from the top. Pelosi is the Speaker of the entire House, not just the Dems. As it is, the House failed to function well at a critical time. We can't afford to have a legislature that is that dysfunctional IMO.
