I've heard it said that those for the deal have argued on the basis of pragmatism, while those against the deal both on the left and the right have argued on ideology.

I'm starting to take the side of pragmatism here. Let's engineer a soft landing. Too much of a shock would lead to repercussions that cannot be easily repaired.
