How would letting the market melt avert a credit crisis? The Great Depression should more aptly be called The Great Credit Contraction, of which high unemployment, failed businesses, and soup lines were merely the consequences.

I agree that there is a LOT of work to do to undo years of deregulation and bogus 'free market' thinking. But, let's put the immediate fire out first so we don't all burn up while discussing the new sprinkler system...
