Thanks for the congrats and also for sharing your cabin picture. It looks great and I bookmarked the URL and asked for more information. I liked it because most all had nice porches and I like that as it is a way to sit in the evening and wind down the day.

The big old oak trees we lost in our neighborhood are huge in diameter and this city will have more than enough firewood for a long while. With an over supply, cord prices should be reasonable because of it.

My husband has always wanted to have a log cabin built with a wraparound porch so looking at those too. Not for the bay as it would surely look out of place, but for a retirement home on some acreage outside of Houston. He reads all the real estate ads to see what is available all over the area. My biggest request is that the utility room be back by the bedrooms area as that is where most of the laundry comes from. Ours now is out in our separated garage and really not the best thing when the weather is rainy and getting clothes back into the house. It is the only thing I have ever disliked about our home. I have looked into building ours in the house, but would have too much to give up to accomplish it so I will demand that in any other home we might build or live in. I never fully understood why architects always put them near the kitchens and many have started putting them near the bedroom wings now. Took them forever to understand why women wanted them there, I think.
