I understand your predicament about rebuilding or giving up. Many of the long time residents of Pensacola, did just that. They packed their bags and left. They said they were sick of repairing and replacing...this last one was the last straw. After Ivan, many had just started rebuilding when Dennis hit..it was too much.
Everyone is disputing property taxes, but when you fight city hall, you'd better have better lawyers than the city does..and someone who will listen.
The county thinks everyone who owns property on the beach is rich, so therefore, they can tax them all they want and we have nothing to complain about. the fact of the matter is, many of us bought low and without heavy taxes. We have no children in school, so we're not adding to the burden there. Everyone in our building pays about $1700 a unit per year for police, fire, and life guards, and that is just one building so you can well imagine how much money that adds up to. Pile more taxes on top of that, and it is getting steep.. |
