janski and all,

The Arcxel switch was addressed here when it was first announced July 17 - it wasn't going to ship until Sept, high cost per port (8), latency @ 2 microseconds; we figured it would someday compete with Ancor's as yet unrevealed switch. At that time Craig Stevenson noted that it would bear watching:

exchange2000.com

Arcxel Sept announcement says production in October. Original announcement in July said production in September. Agreement w/Hucom is for sole distribution rights in Japan, amount unspecified, when they ship. Hucom has contracted similar agreement w/Ancor and has already bought and has contracted to buying more (with $ amounts). They are also sole distributors of Emulex in Japan. Obviously, Hucom wants to corner the FC market in Japan by signing sole distribution rights with FC vendors. Anything wrong with that? They will sell whichever switch the customer wants. Given the prices, which do you think will sell?

Hucom OEM agreement is with Transoft for their StudioBoss storage units using Arcxel. Score one for them. Anybody ever heard of Transoft?

In assessing the FC market and Ancor's competition, it would help greatly to read only what is written, not what one fears is written.

C'mon guys, aren't we getting a little gun-shy lately?

G'night,

Douglas
