I would have expected her to say WSJ, IBD, Wash Times, etc. It would not be big news that she read those papers. But, the impression is that not only does she NOT read - ala Bush - but that her first reaction was to be evasive about it. Lack of confidence, or reflexive response?

As far as the Supreme Court ruling - YES, I believe that the top leaders in our government need to have a good understanding of Constitutional law and history. She is not running for Person You'd Like to Have Pizza With, but for the backup to the most important job in the country. The primary oath of that office is to protect and defend the Constitution. How can ANYONE do that if they don't have the background and knowledge necessary to understand it?

We're talking basic qualifications for the office here, not her influences or mentors. If she came out and said she read George Will religiously, or Krauthammer, or whomever - ok, fine. But the question is not who her influences were - it is the fact that she can't name any, nor any Supreme Court decisions, not even any papers or other sources.

I doubt she reads much of the Anchorage Daily News - what I've read, they are fairly critical of her.
