My mentor told me years ago that demographically, Japan was about 10 years ahead of the U.S.A. Major trends that
occurred 10 years ago in Japan, should be similar to today in the U.S.

Yeah.. this is generally correct. But the US has a tradition of importing human talent and labor (legally and illegally.. ;0) which tends to prop up our economic growth.

But ethnically homogeneous societies, like Japan's, are facing tremendous issues with a aging population, BUT WITH A DECLINING TAX BASE.

They've already got serious issues, given that their national debt is 180% of Japan's GDP (compared to our current 80-100%, given the recent legislation package) and expectations that retirees will be consuming that reserve of savings in their retirement.

And btw, that also seems to apply to China, with their aging population and one child policy. Aging population and lacking a replacement tax base.

Not discounting the problems we face. It's like wading in a pool of crap. You might be the tallest one in the pool, and while you're up to your neck in it, your vertically challenged rivals are submerging into it.
