INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF SEXUALLY TRANSMITED DISEASES
The 12th Meeting of the International Society of Sexually Transmitted Diseases Research (ISSTDR) held jointly with the 2nd Regional Meeting of the International Union Against the Venereal Diseases and the Treponematoses (IUVDT)
SEVlLLE, SPAIN 19-22 October 1997
Welcome to Seville!
Dear Colleague:
The beautiful city of Seville is honoured to hold the first Joint Meeting of the two most important societies in the field of research into Sexually Transmitted Diseases: The International Society of Sexually Transmitted Diseases Research (ISSTDR) and the International Union against Venereal Diseases and Treponematoses (IUVDT), under the title of International Congress of Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
The ISSTDR was founded in 1975 in response to the need for greater exchange of information on STDs among health care professionals. To this end, the ISSTDR organizes international scientific meetings every two years, alternating its venues between Europe and North America. This will be its twelfth meeting.
The IUVDT was founded in 1923 for international cooperation in the control of Sexually Transmissible Diseases, and is an official nongovernment organisation with consultative status in the World Health Organisation.
The International Congress of STDs will provide an opportunity for discussion of new research findings related to all aspects of STDs and specially to HIV infection and AIDS.
Seville is at its best in early fall, the perfect time to enjoy the beauty of the city and of Andalucia, the southernmost part of Spain, with its wealth of historical and archeological monuments.
We hope to meet you in Seville in 1997.
