The next problem for Governor Palin after tonight is the report of the bipartisan special investigator on troopergate up in Alaska. It will be out October 10th.

After initially promising full cooperation and an open approach ("hold me accountable") which improssed Ms. Palin's friends and detractors alike, after being selected as McCain's running mate her staff shut down any coooperation, even challenging subpoenas.

The investigator has plenty of records and interviews with people on the one side of the issue. He has almost nothing in Governor Palin's defense...because she won't allow it to be given.

When he issues his report, even if it is only slightly criticial of her and her staff/family handling of the mess...
there will AGAIN be questions about why the McCain campaign handled it this way instead of being fully open and just geting it all out early, fast and fully.

It would have been over by now. Instead, it is another sword of Damacles hanging over the Governor.

Bad political thinking, in my view.
