Craig C.,

Arcxel was all over this thread back when their switch was originally announced. I actually posted it on my Unofficial Ancor page before any word of it appeared on SI.

There was also a fairly lengthy discussion about the Class1/Intermix issue, and how Arcxel was apparently able to circumvent Ancor's patent.

K.J. Moy and I also had a discussion about the apparent lack of N_Port support. (This was all back in the July 17th time frame. Not exactly a conspiracy.)

I even went so far as to call Arcxel directly. My post of that conversation appeared here:

I also contacted Ancor about Arcxel:

I also provided my take on Arcxel as a competitor:

Remember that this was all on July 17th. During the last conference call, I was the last questioner. I asked Cal specifically about Arcxel, and was the only person who mentioned their name, bringing them to the attention of all who listened to the call. Conspiracy? I don't think so.

I also recall seeing the Hucom/Arcxel announcement here, but I believe someone else posted it.

As to your contention that you haven't seen anything from Ancor regarding the Hucom deal being larger than originally anticipated, and extending through 1998, here is the press release:
newsalert.com

In case you don't want to read the whole thing, here is a quote from Cal Nelson: "We also expect that the total orders for this project should exceed the original project value announced last November."

Another quote from the press release: "Reflecting Hucom's success in expanding Japan's Fibre Channel market, Nelson said Ancor and Hucom have signed a new contract that builds on the productive partnership between the two companies. The contract, which extends through the end of 1998, calls for significantly increased commitments from Hucom for GigWorks switches and adapters to serve this growing market."

Once again, this information was posted on my Unofficial Ancor page, and was discussed here on SI too.
