California is not the northeast. MLK Jr was busy up there, also, and did have much to say about the defacto, but not by 'law', segregation there. No blame off the south or what we did, but the northeast, as he understood, had its own horrors. Remember Boston during desegration of schools? California is a whole other world from anything east of the MS river.
