Ohio this year allows voters to cast absentee ballots without providing an excuse as to why they will not be present on Election Day -- good for Ohio.... the practice is from the dark ages... if you want to vote absentee, you fill out request form for a ballet in your state and state reason.... like out of town on business, away on vacation and you get a ballet in the mail. no more validation or auditing of your request. No need to show hotel reservations, sworn statements from friends or relatives in another state you will be with them and notarized. If you want to put down illness,, holy cow.... you need doctor references etc etc. Nope can not put down long term illness,, You are required to identify sources for vaidation and i believe you may have to get a doctor note in some states... does this make sense? Ohio just eliminated the need for everyone wanting an absentee ballot to avoid writing out of town on application.
