American Technology Receives New LRAD(R) Orders From U.S. Military for Force Protection in Iraq
Thursday October 2, 8:30 am ET

Orders Totaling $400,000+ Include LRAD-RX(TM) for Checkpoint Security and LRADs for Convoy Security

SAN DIEGO, CA--(MARKET WIRE)--Oct 2, 2008 -- American Technology Corporation (ATC) (ATCO - News), a leading provider of directed sound products and technologies, announced today it has received new LRAD® orders totaling $400,000+ from the U.S. Military for force protection in Iraq. The orders include the Company's first LRAD-RX(TM) shipment to Iraq for checkpoint security. The orders are scheduled to ship this quarter.
ATC's proprietary LRAD systems and products use directionality and focused acoustic output to clearly transmit critical information, instructions and warnings well beyond 500 meters. The LRAD product line can be manually operated or integrated into a remotely controlled security network's command and control center. Through the use of powerful voice commands and deterrent tones, large safety zones can be created while determining the intent and influencing the behavior of unknown personnel.

"When we designed LRAD-RX, one of the primary applications we envisioned was for unmanned perimeter security," remarked Tom Brown, president and CEO of American Technology. "LRAD-RX enables our troops to remotely man checkpoints by hailing, warning and communicating from command and control centers, keeping them safely out of harm's way."

"Our increasing LRAD shipments to the U.S. Military evidence their growing deployments of our long range acoustic hailing and warning devices," Brown added. "LRAD provides the vital capability of determining intent and communicating at distance, giving our armed forces time to resolve uncertain situations and potentially saving lives on both sides of the device."
