tonto, did you watch the video of Democrats Maxine Waters, Barney Frank and many others adamantly insisting during congressional hearings that Fannie Mae was well managed by CEO Franklin Raines? John McCain submitted a bill raising the lending standards at Fannie/Freddie and congressional Dems vote No. They've fought tooth and nail when the Bush Adm pressed numerous times for reforms of those institutions. Democrats at those entities hired almost every retiring member of congress for a position at Fannie/Freddie, in order to shut down any criticism of their inept business practices. Franklin Raines pocketed $90M of taxpayer revenue prior to being forced to resign as CEO of Fannie Mae--he is now the housing adviser for Obama.
