The playing field must be level. Whatever the longs have to disclose, the shorts MUST be required to do the same.

Not every long has to disclose their position, so the same should hold true for the shorts.

I doubt if we need complete transparency but we need the rules to be fair on both sides.

The "reverse engineering" complaints are totally bogus...nothing but a smoke screen. Of course, smoke screens are what the SEC is all about, so it should surprise no one that the SEC would side with those blowing smoke!!
