Bubba was worse when he showed up here a year ago. No training, no socializing and lived in the wild for a few months. His idea of play was to knock us down or take a bite. Did lots of work with him and one of the best was walking him with a choke collar with the leash held short at heel about an hour a day, every day for 3 months. That helped but he still went after the cats and our older dog and us at times. Wife got the shock collar and nailed his ass on high a few times for these infractions. Made the thought of nailing a dog or cat or us a painful memory.

Now she takes him out with the collar on low and if he gets wound she gives him a reminder on low and he stops. Wound like running and jumping close to a living being. I don't take the control out with me and if he gets too frisky I tell him down which he does well. Give him a few seconds and tell him OK. Resets his mind like booting a computer.

I will say my wife ordered and watched several hours of DVDs on training dogs with a shock collar, you can ruin them as easily as training them. Today my wife had a landscaper out and he liked dogs. Petted Bubba and Bubba thought he wanted to rough house. 2 zaps in the first 10 minutes and he was good for an hour.

We also put in a buried fence and after getting zapped a few times knows the yard limits. He stops well before the warning buzzer.
