"The whole political thing is backwards... the liberals in charge of the banking and finance committees are now blaming the Republicans for the banking mess...<g>"

_________
Come now, GZ...the Republicans were in charge of everything, all the committees, both houses of congress and the executive from 2000-2006. They were in charge of all congressional committees from 1994-2006. Every committee...every bill, every hearing.

There is blame to go around here for sure and both parties have responsibility but I have to groan a bit when I read things like your last post.

Unless this problem began, developed and exploded in just the last 19 months, the democrats have not been in a controlling position. Are they innocent? By no means. But...really, now.

P.S. Buffett and Soros and many others are on record screaming about the sub-prime issues and more back in 2003, and every since. Many articles were written...What did the republican controlled congress do to cut back Freddie/fannie or strengthen lending standards or anything else to stall the congress?

Don't you think the republicans lack of fiscal integrity during all the years they were in charge...and their choices not to regulate, manage or oversee the industries during all the years they were in charge of everything...might have contributed to this more than, say, Barney Frank? <g>
