1. FANNIE MAE/FREDDIE MAC: Palin said “it was John McCain who pushed so hard with the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac reform measures,” but fact checkers say that’s “Quite A Stretch” And “Barely True,” and that McCain was a “latecomer” to the discussion.
Both McCain and Bush pushed for more regulation here, and democrats in congress shot the idea down.
2. FUNDAMENTALS ARE STRONG: Palin tried to say “John McCain saying our economy was strong” but McCain has used the phrase “The Fundamentals Of The Economy Are Strong” At Least 16 Times This Year.
The argument the America blog post is trying to make here is incoherent. There could be something there, but as phrased it doesn't make any sense.
6. SPENDING INCREASES: Palin said Obama is is proposing “nearly a trillion dollars in new spending,” but didn’t mention that he has also proposed cuts to balance it out,
That's not a lie, or a false statement or a distortion. Whatever you do with taxes, a trillion dollars in new spending is a trillion dollars in new spending. Palin's comment was right on the money here. And McCain isn't proposing any where near as much extra spending.
14. KILLING CIVILIANS. Palin said “Obama had said that all we're doing in Afghanistan is air raiding villages and killing civilians and such a reckless, reckless comment and untrue comment again hurts our cause. That's not what we are doing there.” Unfortunately, the Associated Press says that Obama was right in discussing a critically important point about avoiding civilian casualties.
So the AP is just as wrong as Obama. Avoiding civilian casualties when reasonably possible is an important point, but "all we are doing in Afghanistan is air raiding villages and killing civilians" is a reckless and untrue comment.
Here you go again......defending the indefensible. I hold people like you responsible for the mess we are in. If people like you didn't spend so much time defending idiots like Palin, Bush and the rich, maybe we could elect good people into office.
AndI am not going to take the time to argue the 4 points up above.....some of the differences are based purely on a matter of perspective. In any case, the underlying point remains......Palin is a liar. She lied on the other 14 points on the list that I posted. She lied in her interviews. She lies in her stump speeches even when she gets caught. And apparently, she lied in Alaska before she got the VP nod. She is an inveterate liar. And by defending her, that makes you a liar too.

As for other points that are or may be mistakes, none of them rises to the level of Biden's statements such as
“When we kicked — along with France, we kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon, I said and Barack said, “Move NATO forces in there. Fill the vacuum, because if you don’t know — if you don’t, Hezbollah will control it.”
We didn't kick Hezbollah out of Lebanon, it didn't come back, it was always there. Some argued "he meant Syria", but the statement is also wrong about Syria, we didn't kick Syria out of Lebanon, and Syria doesn't fit with the rest of his statement about being part of Lebanon's government.
And on top of the mistake is a rather serious policy issue. He apparently wanted a large NATO (and presumably heavily American) force put in place in Lebanon. Anyone here think doing so would have been wise?
None of this makes any sense.......I think he misspoke......period. Hezbollah never got kicked out of anywhere. And its not likely you would use NATO forces in Lebanon except as a part of a UN peacekeeping operation.
-- Or how about the comment about how in three weeks we spend as much in Iraq as we have in 6 and a half or seven years in Afghanistan?
CRS Report for Congress The Cost of Iraq, Afghanistan, and Other Global War on Terror Operations Since 9/11 (found on fas.org site)
Covers FY2001 - FY2009 Afghanistan war $172 billion (8 yrs) Iraq war $653 billion (6 years)
Let's just take average / year / week
AF: $21.5 billion / yr IR: $109 billion / yr
7 years of AF $150.5 billion 3 weeks of IR $6.3 billion

A gross exaggeration.......you could even say he was lying althought that's a stretch. The point he was making is that we have spent far, far more in Iraq than in Afghanistan. And that's absolutely true!
See the difference between quality and sh*t.......one has two items to dispute; the other 18. I am sick to death of your ideology trumping competency, intelligence and honesty. You want ideology to take the lead......please.....move to Russia. They will love you there. |
