I've forgotten Huck Finn's connection with a fence, unless it had something to do with whitewashing. It's sort of like TV in my lifetime .. I was 12 when my family got its first TV set (a Hoffman .. anyone ever heard of that brand?), and we had only one station for awhile. But I never had any sense of deprivation about TV. I've so often wondered what it was like for our ancestors without [electricity]
