I don't now what is the best manner of getting Dr. Davis's message across to the medical profession, but improving the national diet is also important and very doable IMO.

I was just trying to point out that the latter isn't Dr. Davis's job.

As for doable, I disagree. We might be able to get folks to use sugar substitutes rather than sugar. But it's possible that could turn out to be a mistake in the long run.

-People don't want to give up anything until and unless they face the consequences later in life and even then many/most won't.

-Most people couldn't afford a really good diet even if they were willing to eat it. We eat starches in large part because they're cheap.

-The world probably can't produce a really good diet for everyone. We've increased food production by efficiencies in growing things that aren't particularly good for us and in processing them to death.

-If there were an acknowledged high standard and most people couldn't afford it, the government would probably be expected to provide it as in free school lunches for all children and food stamps for everyone else. However expensive it may be to pay for diabetes treatment, it would be more expensive to feed people really well all their lives so they didn't get it.

Sure, there have been some moderate successes. There's the smoking thing and the exercise thing.

And then there's the low fat thing. :/
