I think we all just got spoiled. How long ago we all used to write code using EDIT (or something like that), build it using command line tools, run it on 1 Meg RAM / 40 Meg HD and Intel's 8086 or 286 in exclusive mode and still be happy?!!! Now we have "desktops", which are really machines those rivals in power "mainframes" which used to occupy floors. I'm not a MSFT advocate, but this company was part of the process of making it possible. Everybody knows that theirs software is buggy (but anybody who's done at least some development know that testing and debugging is actually about 60 to 80% of the development time - here I should say that MSFT is perfected this part). What MSFT do best is selling - but this what is all about. First rule of business: "No matter how good your product is it worth nothing until it sold", right? And MSFT is very good in this area also (I don't think anybody can argue this). COM story. Well yes it's not the best thing in the world, but it is much-much better than COM 1.0 stuff, or it's predecessor DDE - this was a real bitch to work with!!! (Have you worked with it, Rod?). Therefore, I think we shouldn't throw stone to or from anybody's side, but being factual and have our decisions made based or cold reality. And cold reality tells me that putting money in BORL is much better choice today, than MSFT or, say, SYBS. I like their moves add it is really looks like big winner to me.
Good investing to all
