It seems to me that this is the only big name athletic shoe company making products in the US. Nike--maker of the all-american "look", probably makes less than 1% of their goods in the US, while Converse boasts about making all of their shoes domestically. What does this mean--lower margins for Converse and higher for Nike. Sure it is a very noble thing to make products in America, but as far as value, utilizing the often cheaper labor abroad, adds quickly to a company's bottom line.
