Tuesday October 7, 1:14 pm ET

ca.us.biz.yahoo.com

WALLACE, ID--(MARKET WIRE)--Oct 7, 2008 -- Shoshone Silver Mining Company (OTC BB:SHSH.OB - News) is pleased with its progress at the Company's Lakeview Mining District, located approximately 35 miles north of the famed Silver Valley Mining District.

CORE DRILLING PROGRAM COMMENCES

Shoshone commenced an initial core drilling program on its Lakeview properties on September 27, 2008. A drilling crew has been on site 24 hours per day for 7 days thus far and is expected to be on site until the end of the week. Several drill sites have been identified by Shoshone geologist, Rene Von Boeck, and drilling is expected to continue throughout October. Results of the current round of drilling will be released when they become available in a subsequent press release.

PROCESSING ORE AT THE LAKEVIEW MILL

Shoshone's Lakeview Mill generated concentrates from stockpiled ore this summer using its one hundred ton a day ball mill and floatation cells as well as a new set of zinc cells. Work has commenced on bringing an additional 250 ton a day ball mill on line, and additional floatation cells will be added when needed.

Shoshone President Lex Smith stated, "The Lakeview Mill renovation project is critical in our growth plan for the Lakeview District as we make expect to make the transition from an exploration company to a production company. We have always felt a centrally located milling facility was a necessity, allowing us to capitalize on our complex land package in the district." Smith went on to say, "We are confident that historical past production reports from the 7 mines encompassed by Lakeview District holdings show great promise for the area, and we are working to have additional, current drilling data to analyze."
