I never liked ARMs. Gambling that interest rates would stay low and never go up for 20 to 35 years is a fools game.

I've had 3 mortgages in my life, all fixed.

The houses most likely to suffer a decline in value over the past year or two is the multi-hundred thousand dollar homes and above in nice areas.

That and plush condos. I would be curious to know what percentage are 'investors/speculators'. But nothing is really transparent right now. If it was there might be a solution.

But I love the way the Reps put on their ideological blinders, and only see the inner-city as the root of the problem. Same with energy, they spout "drill baby drill" even though it's less than 10% of the solution. It's no wonder we are in this mess with that kind of non-logical 'thinking'.
