Thanks for the thoughtful reply, Sidney, but it doesn't help me much. What does the shedding of blood have to do with sins or forgiveness?

Again, I'm not trying to be dense or argumentative, I simply seem to be missing some more basic point. Would someone who works in a slaughterhouse be more "forgiven" than a vegetarian?

It just seems to me that if someone does something wrong, responsibility lies with that person, and only those whom he harmed have the ability to forgive or not forgive.
