For deflation to be meaningful, a lot of credit has to be fleshed out of the system - which might mean high beta stock market gyrations which will slowly suck the $$s out of people. Dow could go up a grand or maybe two to entice suckers (yours truly included sometimes) in and then fall rapidly again. I am guessing it won't fall below 8000 but the number is coming out of you know where. Gold will probably fall and XAU will go up in the intermediate term and finally it will skyrocket.
