OK, so perhaps the defense of DJIA 10K will occur from below. Instead of letting things stew for 24 hours and then springing a trap on the shorts, perhaps we sell things down all week, then jam it on Friday into the close to try to make the weekly stick look better. Or, in the really long-term view, sell it down all week and into next, then spring the trap on the shorts the following Friday to make a reversal stick on the weeklies.

If it spends too long under 10K, any large player that was inclined to launch a short covering rally will have a hard time getting over 10K resistance.
