Let me rephrase because I was very unclear and imprecise.

I meant that historically one has been paid in NOMINAL terms AT THESE VALUATIONS on a 10 year rolling basis.

Better yet: one has been paid 8 years after a generational top.

1974, 1938, etc.

Also, you can't exclude dividends.

At current valuations I suspect one will make the historical long run average from equity markets.
