Hi Tom,

Gartman's assessment was dour. I really believe that this economic blowup in America will swing this country into a 16 to 20 year pattern where we see very liberal Government services oriented policies that are quite left of center. The four states that will define the electoral map will be CA, TX, FL, NY, and we will see a huge expansion of healthcare for all ( which on one level I like) ; but beyond that a massive expansion of social services and vastly higher tax rates on individuals and companies.

The democrats will work effectively to co-opt the Latino vote to give all the perceived benefits of the bankrupt "Great Society" of America and provide the illusion of the largely theoretical socialist benefits that have occurred with the Government of Mexico. Mexico is a God awful Mess. I have a few friends, including Patricia Coronado, who was born their and can put a more positive viewpoint on the country. But she laments the shortcomings.

we shall see,

John
