This Yr's hottest halloween costume: news.yahoo.com The great experiment continues. This week we see if you really can fight deflation by lowering interest rates. I'm not optimistic about that working right away. If the prices are falling, smart people aren't buying, and since the banks aren't loaning, the not-so-smart aren't buying either, So who's left to buy to support prices? Next experiment on tap, direct ownership of large banking by the US Treasury.. -ng- I hope folks realize that once da gub-ment takes over another pc. of the action, it's quite difficult to wrest it back away from them. Particularly when it's something as lucrative as banking. Frankly, I don't see how that could be within the constitutional powers granted to the USG. It will no doubt be challenged. I should think that the private banks that have to compete with the government owned entities will be crying FOUL right quick..
