Hard to say exactly what is in the cards. What I didn't expect was for China to shut down like they did after the Olympics. Stagflation, in many respects, is the best outcome. It is long and protracted, but is at least a soft landing. A deflationary spiral is a lot faster. And lands a lot harder.

The rapidness of the unwinding of the finance system just shows you how unsound it is on a fundamental level. Things were fundamentally sound back in the 1970s, which is why it crumpled in slow motion. The stock market had stalemated for decades. Always, but never quite, threatening to break 1000. So it really couldn't get any lower. So it isn't like it could have dropped much.

Round and round she goes. Where she stops, nobody knows...

Although, I suppose a crap shoot is a better analogy.
