The issue here is whether Microsoft can tell the reseller, "if you want Windows, you also must take IE,"

Yes I agree. However I fail to see why this is such a big deal. So what if MSFT stops the practice I see no significant impact on their sales. CNBC presented this as a major hit on MSFT. I don't understand why this is so. We'll just have to wait and see how this plays out.
