There are world leaders- all over the place- who were former terrorists. Nixon met with Mao, ahem, a "former" terrorist (or kind of a current one, really, at the time Nixon met with him, if you happened to get on Mao's bad side, you ended up facing some terror.)
Yet Nixon met with him, and worked with him, and I think we can all agree (well most of us can) that was a Good Thing. There are folks in Israel who have run things, or are running things, who are basically former terrorists. We know that. But still, you work with them.
It's just politics for the people all panty twisting about Ayers. We could point to lots of terrorists the reps have worked with AS terrorists, and whom they've actually tried to assist in their terrorist actions (contras, hello hello)- and that's not the only fun bunch, but you know, since the folks using this are only playing political Whack a Mole it's really hard to take them seriously.
I'm not a fan of any terrorists- not the ones on the right or the left, but sometimes you work with former ones. That's just the way it is. And we all know that. Even the righties know it (you have to hope)- they just can't say they know it right now :-) |
