Sorry TJ, but your friend has a basically wrong assumption which is the basis of the current world wide financial debacle

Best part of life is that there is always a seller when there is buyer.

If that would be true there would be tons of buyers for foreclosed homes, distressed debt and mortgages and SIV and ABS and MBS and CDO and CDS and ....... and but there are none at reasonable prices <GGG> oh yes at 5% or 10% of face value you will find takers but this also in limited amount.

There is a urgent need of a different way of evaluating the economy and economic development - the old guard is DEAD as proven by the present turmoil in the markets - Jimmy Rogers is wrong as are most CB's

Economist must learn to predict and anticipate the reaction of the masses and how not to destroy confidence - it starts from selling melons and cucumbers to selling sophisticated financial instruments and the soundness of the economy.

No one will buy a melon that is not sweet - but before buying a melon no one knows if indeed the melon IS sweet - until you eat it <GGGG>

Same for your hoarding of gold – will my grocer take my gold coin for a load of groceries? Or will he demand a huge premium because he knows I have the coins, but he has "MY FOOD" which I need to survive – after all I can not be feed with GOLD

In a nutshell what I am trying to say is that at this time we need a financial instrument which is highly liquid (my grocer will take it at face value) and also maintains it’s value or purchasing power of food, shelter and widgets we need to live comfortable.

Therefore in another vein, why not buy oil products – burry them in the ground in your back yard and sell it by the litter / gallon to those in need – at least it would be difficult to confiscate or to steal or exchange it with a fake bar or coin <GGG> a simple security system will do it and there will be little temptation to steal it as it does not “glitter” <GGG>
